I will be voting for this bill because it addresses the issues of affordability, fiscal responsibility, quality, and choice. We can no longer afford to do nothing. We must meet this challenge head on.

Dennis Moore Special payments are now available to over 185,000 service members who had their enlistments involuntarily extended after September 11, 2001, providing $500 for every month they were held under stop-loss orders. Service members may begin submitting their claim for Retroactive Stop Loss Special Pay and all applications must be submitted to the respective services no later than Oct. 21, 2010

Dennis Moore Voted in favor of H.R. 3590, The Service Members Home Ownership Tax Act of 2009, which amends the federal tax code to ensure military personnel can take full advantage of the $8,000 first-time homebuyer tax credit that was created as part of the Stimulus Act. Service members will not be forced to repay the tax credit if they are called for duty and forced to sell their home within three years of purchasing it.
Dennis Moore Announced this week that funding for a Veterans Administration Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) to be located in Johnson County was approved by the full House on a voice vote. This facility will provide convenient, accessible health care to the more than 45,000 veterans in our area.

The Legion of Honor is the highest distinction that France can bestow upon those who have carried out remarkable deeds for France.
Dennis Moore Today I held a hearing to focus on the role of technology in efforts to provide transparency and accountability for programs, such as TARP, and using technology to ensure federal agencies provide strong, coordinated oversight of financial services activity. The federal government should also be utilizing these technologies to better monitor systemic risk and, hopefully, prevent future financial crises.
