AUGUSTA... See More—Senator Larry Bliss (D-Cumberland County) and Representative Charlie Priest (D-Brunswick), chairs of the Legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Judiciary have announced the details regarding the public hearing on two marriage bills currently before the Legislature: LD 1020, An Act to End Discrimination in Civil Marriage and Affirm Religious Freedom (sponsored by Senator Damon), and LD 1118, An Act to Expand Rights for Maine Families (sponsored by Rep. Fossel).

The Committee Chairs have scheduled the public hearing for Friday, April 24th beginning at 9:30 am. The hearing will take place at Cony High School, located on Pierce Drive in Augusta. The Committee will hear testimony in the auditorium, which seats 900 people. Additional space for 400 people is available in the cafeteria. No political signs or banners will be allowed in the high school.

Proceedings from the auditorium will be televised into the cafeteria on a large screen. Members of the public may also listen
