Chastain C. Criswell inventor of
Tag and Deface Presents: “From the Stall”
Hits the road
From the title to the last trick you can be assured that this lecture will
satisfy your need for useful, commercial magic. Chastain Criswell has been
performing these effects for laymen all over the south. Private parties, public event...s, to corporate engagements all of the items in this lecture are sure to please. His wacky style and charming personality added to the super effects that came from the stall will make this lecture a highlight for your clubs next meeting.
Many things have been said about the “From the Stall” lecture items, by some of magic's greatest names.
“That looks great; no one uses the turnover moves anymore!” - David Roth
(Outside the Box Okito Routine) “This is an incredible effect!” - Steve Beam
(Deface) “You took an old trick and made a good routine with it.” - Michael Gallo
(Scotch and Soda hold the Scotch) “Yours is one of my favorite box routines, yours and Mohamed Bey's” - Ray Kosby
(Outsidethe Box Okito Routine) With “From the stall” you will learn how to make your old props new with Scotch and Soda
Hold the Scotch and outside the box. Do your close up in any situation stand up or sitting down with Enigma's Triumph, Pocket Rocket, Deface, and much more! Amaze and astonish with Tag, Deface, Pocket Rocket, and Outside the Box! Control your cards with ease and finesse
using the ETC! (Enigma Triple Cut) Enjoy an evening of entertainment and learn the magic that has achieved Chastain Criswell his recognition in the magiccommunity.
Here is a list of the great effects included in this lecture.
1. ETC (Enigma's Triple Cut) - This cut is also a full deck control, the
deception and economy of motion of this cut makes it perfect for any
card effect.
2. Pocket Rocket - At first it appears to be like any card to pocket
routine but this one will rocket past most with its illusive ending. Cards
are jumping and showing up in any place you like but then the cards stop
moving and the Box takes over!
3. Enigma's Triumph - If you do a triumph and you do it well, you will
do this and do it better!
An in the hands triumph routine that leaves you spectator thinking you are
a master of the pasteboards.
4. Defaced - Steve Beam said it best, “This is an incredible effect" Visibly
remove the face of a joker and then place it back. Pot-hole trick meet your
match, or is it your Superior?
5. The Jokers aren't Laughing - By: Scott Robinson - Two joker seek
out three selections.
Jokers known for their laughable qualities are not here for the guffaw,
they are here to do their job and get out! This is a top notch Sandwich
effect with a twist.
6. Scotch and Soda Hold the Scotch - Pull out that old gimmick and get ready to love it all over again! This routine will be sure to have you out polishing what may very well be one of your first coin tricks ever!
7. Outside the Box - Quite simply, one of magic's impossibilities is the Okito
box. Coming up with a routine may seem futile for most, but this will make you look not only like a sleight master but a box champion. Four coins in, four coins out, but not like you would expect and definitelynot with a reasonable explanation.
Bonus Effect: Quantum Leap - Sandwich meets Sci-Fi (Published in Linking Ring January 2005)

JOHN CARNEY IN BALTIMORE TUESDAY, SEPT 29 AT 7:30 PM ADMISSION-$25.00
This lecture is quickly filling up and just may be one of the largest crowds. Get your reservation in as soon as possible.
JOHN CARNEY
is no ordinary "magician". His approach is smart, engaging and always surprising. He is widely acknowledged as one o...f the top sleight of hand magicians in the world with smart, unique, and often hilarious presentations.
He has performed in casinos in Atlantic City, Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas, and has made appearances on The Jerry Seinfeld HBO Special as well as feature appearances on Spin City and Two and a Half Men. He has served as spokesman for MasterCard, performing magic for their national television commercials.
Hollywood's Magic Castle has awarded Carney more awards than anyone in their history, the only performer to win in every category.
He is an accomplished actor, with a number of plays and television appearances. His comic acting was honed through training with Second City, The Actor's
Workshop, and the Harvey Lembeck Workshop.
Besides his normal charming self, John sometimes performs as his alter ego , Mr. Mysto, an eccentric magical savant that makes you howl while he performs
the impossible, drawing a picture that comes to life, or baking a cake in a man's shoe!
John performs his comedy stage act for groups of up to 1500 in theatres, corporate events, and clubs all over the world.
When the venue is more intimate, he performs smaller "Close Up magic" right under the noses of your guests. The power of his intimate miracles is
astounding.
His many instructional books include The Book of Secrets and Carneycopia, which are considered modern classics by his peers. He teaches his approach to the
craft in seminars to magicians throughout the world. Carney studied under Dai Vernon, the greatest sleight of hand expert of this century.
Carney embodies the state of his art, combining exceptional skill and creativity with pure entertainment.

THURSDAY, JULY 23RD, 7:30 PM
KEITH FIELDS FROM ENGLAND
ADMISSION $20.00
Over the last 25 years Keith Fields has worked in just about every conceivable
performance situation and his lecture reflects his vast experience; Stand up,
street magic, close-up, kids, cruises, theatres, shows for the troops, trade
shows... the list... goes on!
During the lecture Keith demonstrates and explains elements from his award
winning street show (The material that won him the accolade of International
street entertainer of the year), his close up and strolling material (with
which he won the Magic Circle Close-up championship) and some of the amazing
magic he has invented (including 'Insight' the ground breaking book test)
Keith is an excellent and very funny performer who has worked all over the
world (including many TV appearances in the UK and Europe). He guarantees that
you will have an entertaining, educational and magical evening!
The Lecture received rave reviews at the Magic Circle before he left London; he
is now in the USA for a limited time and is available to lecture at your magic
club.
Rather than tell you about the lecture ourselves we are going to let others do
it.
'I saw Keith's winning performance in the Magic Circle Close-up Competition.
This being my first experience of his work I marked him down as a comedian who
did tricks... How wrong I was. His lecture revealed a real natural talent and a
well experienced magical brain. Here was a man who could instantly connect with
the audience... His style and magic confirm why he is one of Britain's busiest
magicians covering a whole spectrum of magic... he possesses the one ingredient
that eludes many aspiring close up performers... he knows how to blend humour
and good magic in square proportions to create that vital ingredient -
entertainment. The Magic Circle members showed their appreciation of the value
of the excellent magic that he freely demonstrated.'
The Magic Circular - The official magazine of the Magic Circle
Keith Fields 'Different, dramatic and very funny' The Magic Circle, London
'An Alien of Extraordinary Ability'
USA Homeland security
Keith Fields, known mostly for several books, a magic teach-in video and a
brilliant book test 'Insight' was a name that appeared little known among most
of the audience. All that soon changed as this very experienced performer
showed what professional entertainment can really be... Keith taught how to
project and to hold an audience, he certainly held this audience... no one
budged all evening! There were tricks of course, lots of them... with lots of
comedy... It was entertainment that Keith emphasized all the way through, and
he should know having performed in almost every possible environment, from
streets, through theatres, clubs, children's parties to television. In short, a
great night. If you get the opportunity, see Keith Fields and learn.
ABRA - the world's only weekly magic Magazine
A lecture with something for everyone...
'Your lecture at ring 212 was excellent. Everyone I talked to not only enjoyed
it they each had a different favourite effect. That truly confirms 'something
for everyone' doesn't it' Gene Anderson
To see Keith Fields performing check out the links to his show reels on the
website www.keithfields.com
Keith's lecture is two and a half hours of great useable magic presented by a
consummate professional. Funny, entertaining and inspiring.
You will leave the lecture with some new ideas, some new tricks and a new love
of the art.

'When the tricks we do make people smile, only then have we done real magic'
Keith Fields
Hi Denny: I caught the Keith Fields lecture at Ring 211 in Grand Rapids a few
weeks ago. Wow- great stuff. He did all kinds of magic from street performance
Chop cup (completely routined and tipped), to cards, to "stage", some terrific
children's magic, even mentalism. Very well presented- Keith is an entertaining
and personally engaging showman- yet practical enough that the average
performer can use the items he fully explains. The time flew by- I wish all
magic lecturers were that good. Roger Magic Bus, Kalamazoo, Michigan

'Your lecture at ring 212 was excellent. Everyone I talked to not only enjoyed
it they each had a different favourite effect. That truly confirms 'something
for everyone' doesn't it' Gene Anderson

Keith's lecture is two and a half hours of great useable magic presented by a
consummate professional. Funny, entertaining and inspiring.
You will leave the lecture with some new ideas, some new tricks and a new love
of the art.

JASON ENGLAND LECTURE
ADMISSION-$20.00
Jason England 2009 Summer Lecture
This lecture will focus on several of Jason's all-time favorite effects
for both magicians and laymen alike. Although he is known to be fond of,
and proficient with, some of the more difficult sleight-of-hand maneuvers
possibl...e with a deck of cards, Jason has ensured that this lecture
contains routines that are well within the grasp of most beginning and
intermediate card handlers.
Some examples:
*The Third Shuffle - an absolutely diabolical impossible location. This has
fooled virtually everyone that has ever seen it performed. Best of all,
it's entirely self-working.
*Conning Caveney - From the mind of Steve Forte, this is an almost perfect
gambling demonstration wherein the four Aces are instantly shuffled to
fall to the performer after having been shown to be hopelessly dispersed
in the deck. There is no funny business on the deal as the Aces really are
moved to the proper places for the deal. Let the spectator deal if you
want!
*Fever Nails - Completely self-working and fools the entire room. I can't
give anything else away, except to say this recently took in everyone at
The False Deal convention in Oklahoma City. It's fun and easy to do.
*Aces to Order - Cut the four Aces from a deck in any order the spectators
ask for them. Every move conforms to standard card-table procedures
(apparently) and the spectator can even dead cut to the last Ace herself!
Not self-working, but within reach of most dedicated cardmen.
*LePaul Gag - A simple and humorous take on Paul LePaul's “Gymnastic Aces”
idea. This is perfect for conventions, late-night sessions and fooling the
boys. If you can do a faro-shuffle, you can do this bit instantly.
*Depth-Charge Aces - Okay, this one is NOT self-working. In fact, it
requires some fairly advanced abilities. However, once mastered, it is the
finest Ace-cutting sequence I've ever seen. It looks absolutely impossible
and has fooled some of the brightest minds in magic. The basic idea was
shown to Jason by the incomparable Steve Forte and has been kept quiet for
many years, until now.
In addition to the effects listed above, Jason will be discussing and
sharing techniques and ideas on a variety of classic sleight-of-hand moves
from the gambling world, and how they can be applied to everyday magic to
improve the impact of the effect. While mastery of these moves takes many
months or even years, it is Jason's contention that many of them can be
put into practice in just a matter of weeks with the right instruction and
effect selection. Let him show you how to overcome years of frustration
and put these moves into your working repertoire in a fraction of the time
it would normally take!
Here are just a few of the sleights that will be covered: second deal,
push-through shuffle, bottom deal, riffle stacking, the Erdnase Diagonal
Palm Shift, and palming cards.

AXEL HECKLAU LECTURE FROM GERMANY (Baltimore)
ADMISSION-$25.00
A magic lecture for strong, high impact magic for close-up, parlour and stage
performances
Axel Hecklau is from Berlin, Germany. In 2008 he toured with his second lecture
all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland (and one lecture i...n Barcelona). It
was the biggest lecture tour in the history of the German magic circle. (43
cities). Axel Hecklau has been in magic 30 years and is a well known working
pro in Germany having competed at 15 magic competitions winning 14 prizes (One
of them being FISM 1988 2nd place for Grand Illusion)
At FISM 2003 he received a standing ovation with his act as an old fashioned (funny) Prussian police officer ;-) http://m1e.net/c?58064672-vjdrHfiz4NIV.% 404360463-DUVNO8NxGoj8M
Since 2004, he has had his own weekly close-up show in Berlin. www.close-up-

Please ask some colleagues who know his work:
e.g. Bob Fitch, Jeff Mc Bride, Eugene Burger, the flicking fingers (Jörg

Here a short overview of contents of the ”Details“ lecture:
*One cup.
An easy cup routine with an "ungimmicked" chop-cup with new possibilities and a
different gimmick for more natural movements.
*Out of this world X-treme
Axel Hecklau's version of a classic for extreme table hopping conditions. No
table, no side switch, faster, borrowed shuffled deck
*Cola Cap
innovative, very visual, practical Cap in Bottle routine. (the "fooler" in the
lecture)
*Newsflash - Torn & Restored Newspaper:
Exremely visual and easy to perform
Comment of Gene Anderson on it: ”Brilliant!“
Geaton Bloom: ”It has torn me up“

*Cue Control
Axel's practicable solution for a far common problem. Cue Control is Axels
proven system to cue the music during the show by yourself. It is invisible for
the audience and the performer is independent from unreliable helpers. It makes
it possible for solo performers to use music as an important stylistic and
dramatic device.
*Spoonaround
Pure comedy with a soup spoon in the mouth (the hit of his first Germany
lecture tour "Effective" 2004)
and many more if the audience has enough energy ;-)
There will be a detailed English lecture notes.
