Cheap Cabernet: A Friendship Love my Hyperion Books editor. LUV HER LUV HER LUV HER. However, given the way she busted my chops over the holidays, have come to (affectionately) call her Amanda Farrow. Anyone seen "The Best of Everything"? :) :)

Cheap Cabernet: A Friendship Can you believe I actually JUST SENT OFF the entire manuscript -- all edits, all "passes through" by my editor -- completed. I'm all caught up. It only took 8 days in a row of working (no days off), but -- JUST FOR THE MOMENT! -- I'm caught up. Unbelievable. ...

Cheap Cabernet: A Friendship Finally. JUST completed the initial, first-pass edits to 368 pages. Second pass already started ... third pass to front pages is also in the works. It's confusing, I know.

Cheap Cabernet: A Friendship Can it actually be just 18 short days until "Cheap Cabernet's" rewrite must be done? Yes, indeed, it is. CAN it get beautifully rewritten and sent to galleys in Pulitzer-Prize winning shape? Just say yes ... Just say yes ... Just say yes. Yours in sleep deprivation, CB

Cheap Cabernet: A Friendship We are "thru" chapter XIII, about 2/3 thru the "1st pass." Final 1/3 is sitting here in a FedEx box. It contains my brilliant editor, Brenda's, initial edits. Yes. Cathie Cratchett IS working xmas eve and day. It's a Wonderful Life :)

Cheap Cabernet: A Friendship Okay. Am on page 196 of a 360 page manuscript. That's 196 pages of edits. HOWEVAH, I've already got re-thoughts/re-edits I want to do on the first 100 pages ... so it's circle-back time, even as I go forward. Kill me now.

Cheap Cabernet: A Friendship Recharged. Ready to rock 'n roll. Hand me that red pen.

Cheap Cabernet: A Friendship Don't think I'll hit that "200 pages" mark this week. Some edits are loooonnnnng and complicated and call for pondering and rewriting and wondering if I'm even close to what the editor's after ... sigh ... am on page 160 ... and even had to skip a few requested edits as they require me to "insert some more of this and ...that" throughout the entire manuscript. That's hard. ... tired ... tired ... tired. :)

Cheap Cabernet: A Friendship Am shooting to hit "200" this week. I don't know. I may be over-comitting. 200 pp of "done" edits, that is :)

Cheap Cabernet: A Friendship Big Announcement in a Couple Days: The Internet, Your Book, Getting Publishers to Pay Attention -- 4 Part Teleconference -- MANY (MANY!) have asked to hear of ALL the steps it took in getting "Cheap Cabernet: A Friendship" contracted with Hyperion Books. It's a LOT of fun, a bit o' work, and knowing the steps to realiz...ing the vision. January 2010: TI, YB, GPPA Tele-conference Launch :). Stay tuned :) If interested, email Cheap Cabernet or Cathie Beck from Facebook :)

Cheap Cabernet: A Friendship I now back up every single day. Every single day. Even if I've shut down the computer and remember later -- I reboot -- and back it UP. Can't afford to rework a book manuscript for 4 to 8 hours, only to "lose" it or have my computer crash. Every day. :) We reach pp. 100. Yippee!!! (Well, the FIRST round of the first 10...0 pp. ... am sure there will be many the alteration beyond this "first run-through." But still. :)

Cheap Cabernet: A Friendship We're up to p. 53, kids. Can we get 100 pp. of edits/rewrites done (to my satisfaction) to hand back to editor by Monday? ... I don't know. The snow/blizzard/arctic freeze we're in helps. Can stay focused, read, enjoy the fireplace, get stuff done :) ...
