ANNUAL DYLAN TRIBUTE BECOMES INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL
Irish rockers Seneca will join in with local musicians in the 4th annual tribute to Bob Dylan. Organizer and local musician, Dewey Paul Moffitt (Dewey Paul Band / Dylan66), is hoping this latest expansion of the event will attract more internation...al artists.
"This event started out the first two years with one night at a local Denver theater. In 2008, we expanded it to two nights and this year we're at two separate venues hosting our first international band." Moffitt says.
This year's event will take place on May 22nd and 23rd with more than one hundred artists performing the songs of Bob Dylan. The first night will be strictly electric and take place at the Boulder Theater (Boulder) and promises to feature more than thirty-five Dylan compositions over three sets. The second night will be held at the D-Note (Olde Town Arvada) and feature Dylan's songs in an acoustic setting.
"None of these performers attempt to imitate Dylan. We all apply our own personalities into his material. Bob wrote such passionate songs with traditional folk structures, it allows for lots of interpretation and improvisation. This years event will undoubtedly be a monumental one." Moffitt says.
Proceeds will benefit the Colorado Blues Society's Blues In The Schools Program. Tickets for the festival are available on-line at http://www.dylan66.org .
