Finals Week Hours Announced/Make Your Appointment Today
During Finals Week (Dec 6-11), the UCD Writing Center will be open our normal operating hours: Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We will also be available online from Monday through Thursday from 6:00 PM to 10:00... PM, and will be open at AMC on Tuesday and Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. See you next week!

The Writing Center is now accepting applications for the position of Professional Writing Consultant for the Spring 2010 semester. The Center is growing exponentially and running at over 100% capacity—we need more Consultants!
We are also expanding and now offer 4 locations to assist students. Consultants can work in... our main Center on the Downtown Campus, our satellite at the Anschutz Medical Campus, our satellite at Campus Village, and Online from home. The well‐qualified candidate will have:
• Completed English 2030 or the equivalent
• Experience writing in academic disciplines across the curriculum
• Fluency in discussing and teaching writing
• Experience working with English language learners
• An interest in learning about writing theory and practice
Graduate students and Instructors start at $13/hour.Undergraduates start at $10/hour. Follow the link below for an application!

Social networking is an important aspect when developing professional ...relationships. With a little work, social networking skills can work effectively for you. This workshop will cover:
• Negative and positive networking habits
• What to do when meeting new people
• How to initiate new conversations
• How to keep a networking conversation going
• How to effectively exit a conversation at social networking events
The personal statement is an important part of applications for jobs, grants, and post-secondary schools. The workshop will cover the topics that must be addressed in personal statements, the organization of personal statements, and the appropriate style writers should use.
