It is the task of poetry to bring our eyes to bear on the heart breaking nature of our disappearances, which are unavoidable no matter our economic standing or our education.

Thanks for sharing this. I passed it on to my poetry group. I like the part about poetry as a way of making sense of the world -- whatever world view one might have.

I guess I could say one value is something along the lines of "reaping what you sow", but I feel like I'm just sitting here waiting for something to happen, which doesn't quite harmonize. Don't get me wrong, I've been trying to find work (and do have a part time job), but I'd like to be doing serious video editing and that just isn't happening ... See Moreright now. No one is hiring and when they do they're bombarded with applicants. I've gotten frustrated with looking and feel kinda detached from everything, not plugged in, a bit stagnate. Not a very 'sowy' kinda approach, and frustrating to say the least.

For millions of Americans, the recession has been a curse. For a relative few, it's something more complicated: A catalyst for change. An opportunity to grow. A kick in the butt.
