Biography
The career of Derrick Simmons began as many do, a dream to become an icon in the entertainment industry. This ambitious kid from Queens, New York wanted to be an Entertainer since the age of 10yrs old. He attended Harbor JHS of Performing Arts in Harlem and Talent Unlimited where he majored in drama. An agent saw him in a showcase and sent him out on his first audition. He booked it. (National Burger King commercial) That was just the beginning. Besides acting, stunts and music, he is has added directing, writing and producing to an already impressive resume. Derrick made his feature directorial debut with an Urban, Comedy Romance Film he wrote, produced and plays duo roles titled “Jump Offs”. The movie's about 5 Players with different types of game, jumping from relationship to relationship, until sex, lies and betrayal turns 2 against friends each other.
Mr. Simmons follows his funny romantic comedy film “Jump Offs” with his second feature film titled “Women Do it Better”. The art of cheating is a man's game. These cheaters are good liars and masters of deception in relationships. But when it comes to moves, "Women Do it Better". This movie is about women cheating in relationships. It's show how women are smarter and better players than men.
Derrick is well respected and well known in the Acting and Stunts community. His performance as 'Billie Keane' on HBO's gritty prison drama "OZ" was a strong statement of his undeniable talent.
In addition to his growing list work on critically acclaimed television programs such as "The Wire", "Third Watch", "Law & Order", "Hack", "The Sopranos", "New York Undercover", "Homicide", "Criminal Intent", "SVU", "Rescue Me" and “Kings”.
