Why do you think that this particular trend is so apparent in Dickson County? Do you think our proximity to the interstate and all of the fast-food restaurants that have popped up with that is a factor?

An elderly couple was killed and one man was injured in a wreck that occurred on Highway 49 East this afternoon at about 1 p.m., according to the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office.

i take highway 49 to work and home everyday, so i had to pass by this wreck yesterday. it was awful. i was talking with a person who drove right through the scene of the accident moments before it happened, and he said that there were some hogs running loose in the area, and he had to get out of his car and drive them away from the road.
when i ... See Moredrove through the area this morning, there were no signs of skid marks from either car. so, it appears they hit head on going at least 50 mph.
the scene of the accident is around a bend in the road that goes down an incline, which leads to basically a blind curve. it's a very bad part of the road.
there are a number of factors that could have contributed to this accident, and The Herald will continue to keep you updated as we receive them.

Having lived on Maple Valley Road off 49 after first moving to Dickson County, I have a lot of respect for these windy and sometimes dangerous country roads. My heart goes out to the victims and their families.

I too went by there this afternoon. The hogs were still loose in the field to the right. I think sometimes people get anxious to pass round about there knowing there is an upcoming straight away just ahead. My husband and his crew sat there for quite a while yesterday. This is so sad.
