Re-read the last couple paragraphs of the article again - I'm not saying anything about life searching for us. I'm specifically saying that the Drake Equation can't help us with this answer.

As much as I personally would like to believe that other life out there is trying hard to say hello, we just don't have any evidence this is the case.
