Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971.

Today, MSF provides aid in nearly 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, negligence, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters. MSF provides independent, impartial assistance to those most in need. MSF reserves the right to speak out to bring attention to neglected crises, to challenge inadequacies or abuse of the aid system, and to advocate for improved medical treatments and protocols.

In 1999, MSF received the Nobel Peace Prize.

Supporting MSF

MSF

Support from individuals like you is essential to our ability to operate independently, and allows Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontiéres (MSF) to respond at a moment's notice to the most urgent emergencies, often in countries and regions that are otherwise forgotten.

MSF's decision to intervene in any crisis is based solely on our independent assessment of people's needs—not political, economic, or religious interests. Our freedom to act and make decisions independently enables us to respond more quickly and to be the first on the scene to provide emergency medical assistance, even in areas farthest from media attention.

In 2007, 91% of MSF’s income was contributed by more than 3.8 million individuals and other private sources from around the world.

Working with MSF
MSF

On any one day, more than 27,000 committed individuals representing dozens of nationalities can be found providing assistance to people caught in crises around the world.

They are doctors, nurses, logistics experts, administrators, epidemiologists, laboratory technicians, mental health professionals, and others who work together in accordance with MSF's guiding principles of humanitarian action and medical ethics.

Hey Guys, what better than to have a swim around the Burj-Al-Arab..... that too for a noble cause!
MSF(doctors without borders) is organizing "Swim around the Burj" event on the 14th of November'08, in Dubai.
You all are welcome to swim, sponsor, have brunch and enjoy a live band too! What better? It would help Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF)carry its missions in Chiradzulu, Malawi and places round the world..

What does 20 Buck buy these days?, you could restore a child's sight..help him SEE the Burj, atleast in the pictures...

Its a noble cause, and I expect us to take some leads!!
