Seb Kent A cheap easy way to cool your dog down in the heat (if they like tea)

Hi all we recently tried making tea ice-cubes; a gigantic mug of white with two; let it cool down and popped it into ice-cube bags. One of our two lurchers loves it, we give him 4 or 5 of these cubes at a time whch is less than half a cup of tea and he laps it up / chases them round the bowl; our other lurcher isnt a tea fan but quite likes ice in his drinking bowl, so we are going to see what we can come up with for him.

Cl Breaking: Death Row Dog Bruce is Given Stay of Execution

We have learned that yesterday a Barrister attended High Court for judicial review in the case of Bruce, the dog who has been condemned to die despite having a home offered to him in a country where he would allowed to live happily. The counsel has granted an undertaking that until every avenue of the law has been explored, Bruce will not be destroyed. What this means is that Bruce is ’safe’ but only for NOW.

Probably best to speak to a trainer on this one - if you rehomed her from Dogs Trust, you'll have access to our training and behaviour advisors at the centre you got her from. If not, best to scout around the area for recommendations or try the http://www.apdt.co.uk/ for a reputable trainer. You could also post your query in our dog community, http://www.doggysnaps.com. Dogs Trust advocates purely positive reinforcement techniques - rewarding good behaviour NOT punishing bad.

Caitlin Shaw Me and my whole family have a lovely family dog. His name is Macintosh "Midder Mac" and he is a Black american cocker spaniel. He is great with other dogs and animals and also loves every kind of person whether they are old or young. If I got a dog from Dog's trust then I would call it Trustie.

The Kennel Club will have some information about the types (groups of breeds) but if you Google breed rescues, they're specialists in particular breeds and crossbreeds and can tell you more. When you come and visit us, the Bridgend staff will focus less on breed and more on individual dogs, matching your lifestyle to the dog that will suit your family best. :)

I can't be 100% sure about this as I'm NOT a vet, and I would check with yours, but I would think that any drinks containing caffeine should be avoided in any weather. Ask the vet first, and if the caffeine is a problem perhaps stick to decaf tea?

Sadly, indeed, little Peter Pan has left us. The centre will decide how to mark his life; this is often with a memorial bench but it is up to the centre what they think is appropriate for him.

Ah yes, I got the letter today. Its very sad, he had pancreatitis. I lost a beautiful toy poodle to pancreatitis too. RIP Peter Pan!

I have a beautiful Irish Water Spaniel, Jake, who I adopted from Dogs Trust, Leeds. He's got a lovely personality and lives to please. He swims at the Moray Beaches and River Spey.
