Although the result was disappointing, we knew it would be tough and did not expect much more. We have not stood here for many years and were inevitably squeezed out by the hard-fought Labour-EDP-Independent battle. But we put down a marker in a new area, put out a good leaflet, and we are getting stronger as we prepare to fight our winnable campaigns next year.

Doncaster Liberal Democrats Sorry none of us posted a tribute to Rossington councillor Jackie Clark here before this. He was exactly the kind of community hero described below, and he will be much missed. Best wishes to his friends and family. It was unfortunate that another party called for a by-election before his funeral. Keep up to date with any news.

Good point. I'll do this when I get the time. I'm on an essay binge today.

It's good to see that the old site is linked to the new, but the fact that a visitor must scroll down to find this out is a little frustrating. Ideally the old site would be removed in its entirety and a simple button put in its place. It's just simpler and less confusing that way.

So. Peter Davies, Doncaster’s new Mayor, has already made a fool of himself. Having spent the election campaign lashing out at “political correctness”, he’s beginning to realise there’s not much he can actually do.

Doncaster Liberal Democrats New website is looking good. By the way, there is now an online version of the petition. The organisers prefer people to print the other one and get signatures, but if not practical - you can sign up on this one
