Donn Janes With two versions of the bill passed in each house, Congress must now meet in committee to hash out the differences and come up with a bill for both the House and Senate to agree upon and vote on yet again. Please call, write and email your Senators and Representatives and weigh in with your thoughts about health care ...reform. They need to realize that they cannot create this legislation in a vaccuum, and must adhere to the will and wishes of their constituents.

longtime Democratic priority into law. The Senate approved sweeping healthcare reform legislation by the narrowest of partisan margins early Christmas Eve morning, placing President Barack Obama closer than ever to signing a longtime Democratic priority into law.

Donn Janes I have enjoyed watching some old classics lately, like 'State of the Union' with Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn. I also watched 'Mr. Smith goes to Washington' with Jimmy Stewart. I am surprised that they haven't shown "It's a wonderful life",yet my personal favorite.

Donn Janes Today is the 236 aniversary of the Tea Party when ordinary men stood up against tyranny.

www.politico.com
On this day in 1773, in Boston Harbor, a group of Massachusetts colonists boarded three British merchant vessels and, over the course of the next three hours, dumped 342 chests of tea into the water.

Ordinary men need to continue to stand up against tyranny. Is the "Tea Party" going to be the "party" to unseat the Democrat Party next year? As a Navy man, I remember my oath of enlistment. "Support and Defend the constitution." Go "Tea Party!"

Anyone happen to catch what party the 2 biggest earmarks came from on the grossly huge spending bill for 2010?
December 12 at 7:55am
Donn Janes
Donn Janes
I saw earmarks from both parties even though they are promoting them as significantly fewer earmarks than before and still spending 1 trillion dollars. Getting back to the poll, I think this poll shows the trend of voters. Many are distrustful of the established Republican and Democrat parties and will focus on the candidate, not the specific party affiliation. If a Tea Party could be organized from the movement into an established political force, it could impact real change.

Glad you posted this, TN was one of the first states to do this. TN also was one of the first states to pass the Firearms freedom act. Of Course the Feds sent letters saying they would not honor it. What does that mean? I think everyone knows in the back of there minds. Donn we need more people like you, how far will the Feds let states go with this is the question? Considering they don't follow the Constitution anyway.

Donn Janes If we are to change the type of Representatives we have representing our interests, then shouldn't we change the way we select them? Before you support a candidate, take a look at his/her stance on the issues. If he/she has raised a lot of money, look at where that money came from, then ask yourself, who will this person represent if elected.

To bad most people just vote down party lines. Most people think voting any other way is a wasted vote. In my OP there are no wasted votes.

Donn Janes With unemployment still in double digits, why are we wasting our time talking with the Europeans about Global warming. Even if you buy into the 'Global Warming' premise, the Europeans failed to meet their commitments to the Kyoto treaty, and yet we still reduced our emmissions by 3%.

Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than live as slaves. ... See More

Donn Janes Looks like John Tanner will retire, I wonder how many sharks (career politicians) will join the race now, now that they smell blood in the water. Now that there isn't an incumbent to defeat, I hope the focus will now turn to a candidate that will brings solutions and will work to solve the many problems we face, vs who raised the most money.
