"badges for life" just came in from across the pond from Mark Pawson, a self-confessed image junkie, photocopier fetishist and afficionado of accessible, affordable, low-tech hi-fi printing
methods. Mark is a one-man production line creating and selling a constant stream of artists books,postcards, badges, multiples and... other essential ephemera. His unique hand-made works straddle the
worlds of pop culture and fine art, and reach a mixed and varied audience.

WHO: Artists Athena Robles and Anna Stein will present Free Store in downtown Manhattan. The project is supported in part by The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) and The September 11th Fund.
WHAT: Free Store is an exhibition and cultural pop-up shop, functioning through bartering and exchange and allowing visitors to give something useful or get something useful. The store is the first Global Free Store and will accept and offer World Bills, a global currency, for everyday items brought in by the public, such as a map, clothing or a bag. The store will carry one or two stocked items that are produced in-house. Free Store will also feature special projects and events by curators Felicity Hogan, Edwin Ramoran, Julie Sengle and Herb Tam.

Exit Art's associate curator Herb Tam will lead a strategic planning session with audience members at the Free Store. In an effort to find a way forward for the New York art environment in the current economic quagmire.
Herb Tam is the associate curator at Exit Art, NY. He was previously the acting associate Curator at ...the Queens Museum of Art, NY and has independently curated exhibitions about Crack cocaine's influence on rap music, the subjectivity of time, and the art object as a prop.

Part of the curatorial project by Felicity Hogan, 'All is one, one is all'
Savor Miwa Koizumi's 'NY Flavors Ice Cream Stand' that will be serving neighborhood-flavored ice cream influenced by t...he "tastes and smells from New York City's different tribes." The stand will be on view throughout the exhibition along with Tattfoo Tan's 'Everyone is an Artist' which takes the form of free printed posters with DIY instructions that demystify the artmaking process.
