The Holiday Jingle is definitely happening! Thunder the reindeer has been reserved :) Again, just to clarify, Trick or Treating was not a City-sponsored or organized event, I was just publicizing what I had been told by several merchants. Are the "Wild Things" shows also $2?

Ok "Wild Things" is darker and deeper than the ads are. I just have to comment. I took four little girls and none of them liked it, they are used to TOTAL entertainment, and this is a psychology movie that likely appeals to boys. It provokes good discussion, but not with 8 and 10 year olds....just my 2 cents.

I don't mean to complain but I do own a downtown business and I was not contacted on this event nor was I told of its cancellation. How can the downtown businessess support anything when there is no communication between the DDA and the businesses? This happens with ladies night and several other events that go on. As far as I know no businesses were contacted about this event and we shouldn't have to check facebook to see what is happening in our city. Please contact the businesses first before posting on facebook and maybe things could come together better.

Hi Amy, Thanks for voicing your opinion (I sent you an email to follow up as well). I think that there was a lot of confusion over this event since it wasn't a DDA event, just something that was thrown together last year by a few merchants. I was trying to be helpful by publicizing what they told me, but the communication could have been better on the part of the people who were planning the event. Sorry again for any confusion. Our old committee had fundraisers all year & during pumpkinfest, hired off-duty south lyon police officers to stay on the ground 24/7. We had no carnie problems. We also had an agreement with the carnival that if a carnie got out of line or even swore, they were fired.

Hello. My name is Darrian Tanner. I am a former citizen of South Lyon. I am trying to figure out if there is a particular jewelry store still there that I frequently visited. I wanted to purchase some Christmas gifts there. It was a small jewelry store that sold 25 cent bracelets and bags. I believe that it was closer to the library there. I don't know if this helps any but I am trying to find out if it's still there.

Hey Rob, that is definitely an idea that we need to discuss! We were also thinking about doing a mens shopping night just before the holidays so they guys could come out and get help with the presents that they need to buy.

Oh yes.....please, please do the men's shopping night out! My husband needs all the help he can get ;)

It was great to see Downtown South Lyon utilized during the festival weekend. It actually brought people downtown, which I assume was the intent.
