Dr. Mark Cheng encourages you to go back to the most fundamental parts of the FMS and the correctives. Remember, per Gray Cook, when applying his corrective exercise patterns, "If there's a dysfunction or asymmetry, it's a corrective. If there isn't, it's an exercise."

Dr. Mark Cheng had one of those mornings where teaching brought tons of new ways to explain and clarify how traditional martial arts and functional movement are inseparable!

I long for The Line Up but I'm right in the middle of football playoffs with my boyz! We won the bowl game last night! HUGE pass reception play at the end when our guy caught it (RKC Hardstyle trained) and the DB hit him but it was like hitting a concrete pillar...it took the DB a couple of minutes to limp off the field with support on each side. Our guy caught the ball and ran away. Next Saturday-Mt. Sac for the next round!!! The KBs are serving us well Comrades!

Thanks for that. The HKC would be awesome especially given I will be in Adelaide around that time anyway. What pre-requisites do you need for that?

Dr. Mark Cheng just finished with a shoulder rehab patient whose shoulders were treated like a dissection cadaver's. He's never been happier with his shoulder function after CK-FMS shoulder repatterning exercises taken from the Turkish Get-Up!

MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighters benefit enormously from training with the kettlebell. Punching and kicking power improves exponentially, the grip is strengthened enormously and the body becomes extremely resilient. ...

Kettlebells have improved me. Since I have been working with the Kettlebells I have to say that my kickboxing has improved. My punches feel great and my kicks are off the chain. I am hoping to attend the April Kettlebell cert class. This video was really great to get me going this morning. Thanks

Dr. Mark Cheng has another tip for your lats.... If you're having difficulty starting with or keeping your lat engaged during the Press, Snatch the KB up first, pause at the apex to hyper-engage the lat (ideally near a mirror for visual feedback), and lower the KB to the rack as slowly as possible while keeping the lat as tensed as possible.

Thanks for the tip!

Dr. Mark Cheng wants you to try starting your Turkish Get-Up by pulling the KB handle with both hands to your navel instead of to your chest. It'll make priming your lats so much easier and keep your shoulders further away from your ears. Press with both hands, keeping strict wrist alignment as if you were punching, and feel how much more you involve your lats right from the get-go.

Thanks! Getting my lats involved in one of my biggest concerns--especially on the MP. Maybe this will carry over from TGU to MP. I'll give it a try.

Kenneth, there's some wicked lat stuff that Kenneth Jay & I went over in St. Paul last time. One of these days, I'll write it up or demo it online.

Please!!! I have no trouble kicking my lats in for pull ups and stuff like that. However, I just don't think I get them to always fire on MP. Any help would be appreciated.

Very true. It is amazing how few good studies that there are. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut and let clinical experience guide you. Good Luck with your lecturing. You inspire me to do more with my training and my practice. Thanks.

Thank you for your kind words, Dr. My life is the way it is now because of having the incredible fortune of meeting and studying with men like Pavel Tsatsouline, Dan Inosanto, Roy Harris, and Gray Cook. Having them as mentors has made all the difference in my world and my life. Having a wife that understands that I wouldn't sacrifice family time unless these men were incomparable is a big help too.

Dr. Mark Cheng may be doing a little too much kettlebell teaching. You know it's bad when you have nightmares about people vehemently telling you that the best way to stabilize the shoulder is with the neck.

Dr. Mark Cheng reminds you that, per Pavel Tsatsouline himself, it's NOT about the kettlebell as much as it is about the movement patterns that define strength and vitality. Principles that are well understood can be expressed in no shortage of ways and in infinite contexts.

I don't recall where it might be in print, but the first place I'd check would be your RKC manual! The second sentence is my quote.
