My kids were "Navy brats". We were married from 1975-1985. We used tapes, daily letters, and old fashioned snail mail. I used to make sure the kids sent pics and letters regularly and before the advent of the internet, I used to hide a tape recorder in the kitchen at supper time and ahve the kdis tell me about their day, what they did at school, etc...
