Company Overview:

Dress for Success Worldwide, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, was founded in New York City in 1997 as an answer to the needs of low-income women who are seeking employment and self-sufficiency. In the same year that Dress for Success was founded, the welfare overhaul set time restrictions for public assistance recipients, which in turn quickly forced heads of households into low wage jobs. Mission:
The mission of Dress for Success is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Products:
THE SUITING PROGRAM
Through our suiting program Dress for Success provides work-appropriate clothing to low-income women seeking employment. Volunteer personal shoppers provide one-on-one assistance and gently guide clients through the selection process, making recommendations and educating them on workplace expectations. These volunteers play a vital role in the lives of our clients by providing them with support during the first step in their transition from unemployment to self-sufficiency. IMPACT:

- For many of our clients, owning a suit is a brand new experience.
- Over 50% have never owned a suit before coming to Dress for Success.
- More than 30,000 women received career attire from Dress for Success in 2007.


THE PROFESSIONAL WOMENS GROUP (PWG)
The Professional Women's Group provides women with support, practical information and inspiration to achieve self-defined success in career and in life. IMPACT:

- 75% of PWG members remained employed after one year. - 71% reported that they were establishing new social relationships.
- 42% reported that they received a salary increase and 20% were promoted after one year.
- 52% of have shown an interest in furthering their education; and 68% reported that they have definite career and personal goals that they would like to achieve.


CAREER CENTER
Dress for Success Career Centers foster self-sufficiency by providing our clients with the additional resources, such as the technology needed to update resumes and assistance with interview preparation. The Career Center gives the women we serve a competitive edge when searching for new employment or vying for a promotion. Twenty-five of our affiliates are currently operating Career Centers. At least 75% of all affiliates will operate a Career Center by the end of 2008. IMPACT:

- More than 3,000 clients in 2007 have utilized the services of the Career Center.
- In 2008, Dress for Success will be distributing "Steps to Success" to all clients upon their first visit to our offices.


SUCCESS SUMMIT
Creating Women Leaders
The annual Professional Women's Group Success Summit is a conference for both Professional Women's Group members and the program's coordinators to develop leadership capabilities, learn new personal and professional skills and explore issues surrounding employment retention. The Success Summit instills in each woman a sense of responsibility, competency and trustworthiness. IMPACT:

- This conference may be the first time that a woman has been on a plane, left her hometown and been given the opportunity to see herself as a leader.
- Women gain leadership skills to help them succeed in their professional and personal lives.
- 34 PWG delegates and 43 coordinators attended the event in 2007.
