Dublin Following the success of 20:LOVE, the Abbey Theatre presents THE FAIRER SEX. As part of the Literary Department's ongoing work to nurture new writing, the Abbey Theatre has commissioned six new 20 minute plays by women writers. Public readings of these plays will take place in the Peacock Theatre over two evenings in June 2009.

Dublin Following its phenomenal successes in 2007 and 2008, Bloom has become a national favourite and one of the most anticipated events on the Irish calendar. Hosted by Bord Bia, Bloom is taking place this year May 28th – June 1st in the Phoenix Park and is set to attract over 50,000 visitors throughout the event. There will... be something for everyone with wonderful gardens, floral displays, farmers market, entertainment stages, family fun zone and so much more.

Bloom 2009 will feature more than 20 superb show gardens from Ireland’s top horticultural talent. The show gardens will be complemented by a spectacular floral pavilion featuring the best of Irish plants and flowers. There will be a gardene forum with Ireland’s top celebrity gardeners on hand to provide expert advice on planting and general gardening queries.

The show will again feature a cookery demonstration stage with some of Ireland’s leading chefs; an Irish artisan food market for visitors to sample and buy some of the best Irish food and drink produce; a children’s play area and an outdoor entertainment stage. Bloom 2009 will also feature a demonstration area hosted by the Crafts Council of Ireland offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy live demonstrations by Irish crafts people at work.
