Duo Consulting Do it with Drupal Training Conference begins today in New Orleans. We sent the CEO down there to snoop around. Duo's senior Drupal developer, Doug Vann, will be sharing his Drupal wisdom as one of the speakers. We just hope he's not wandering the French Quarter singing the Drupal song at 2 AM.

Longer write-ups (and some blog posts!) coming, but I wanted to share some of the interesting things I learned about last week at the O’Reilly Web 2.0 Conference last week in NY. This list is what I culled from the first half of the conference. In a word, the conference was about data and new and interesting things peo...ple are doing with data, from real-time search (think Twitter, FaceBook, bit.ly), real-time location data (foursquare, latitude) to real-time H1N1 reporting (http://flutracker.rhizalabs.com/). Attendance was much smaller this year and suits and skirts were more abundant than Threadless t-shirts vs. last year. I estimate attendance was down to less than half of last year (~800 people showed up for lunch the first day) and the coffee cups held 50% less coffee. I was told that the coffee volume was down to conserve water in the washrooms. The economy was almost always a primary or secondary theme of each session. More to come. Questions are welcome!
