Hey Duotrope! Quick question regarding the website: In spending the weekend polishing a short story and looking for a market, I find many of my past favorites to be temporarily closed to new submissions. Had you considered offering any "tracking information" for past markets? For example, it would be helpful to know if Magazine XYZ has been ... See Moretemporarily closed to new submissions in the month of December every year since 2005 but seems to reopen for submission in February of the following year. One could then, based off Magazine XYZ's history, choose to wait until February to submit or perhaps choose to submit to another magazine or journal. Is this a feature already available or would it not be worth the effort to track things like this? This being my first year submitting, I find it odd that I can't find a market right now and I don't know if I should chalk it up to "this time of year," or if I should bite the bullet and submit to a non-paying market. I would think it would be helpful to know when a certain magazine typically reopens for new material. Thanks for your consideration and any advice!

After an in-depth data analysis of the submissions reported to date -- nearly 250,000 anonymous and registered reports -- we have decided that we will no longer allow anonymous reporting. This is an important and necessary change for technical reasons and to improve our data integrity...

Duotrope does a fabulous job. I would be ripping my hair out trying to keep track of all my rejections otherwise. And I have so little hair left because of ripping my hair out over all the rejections I get to list on Duotrope! Whatever they need to do in order to do what they do is cool with me.

I'm new to it but so far find it a great help. Do you folks go to AWP? If so, I want to thank you in person.

We are thrilled to announce that registered users can now update their multiple submissions in bulk instead of one at a time...

Also like smallish new things like posting a word count of submissions. Donating a few bucks to Duotrope is not only good sense, it's good karma.

Registered users, you can now subscribe to special RSS feeds that monitor markets in your Pending Responses and Favorites lists. The RSS feed links can be found on your Control Panel.
Duotrope's Digest
Now instead of displaying only the average wait time on pending responses, the system displays minimum, average and maximum days that current users have been waiting for a response. Also, to make this information easier to find at a glance, it is now on its own line.

Now market listings display a list of other places where users have commonly submitted, in addition to the current publication. When this data is available, it displays in the Response Times section of the listing. As always, we have more features and improvements in the works. Stay tuned.
