More than 200 career professionals will be on hand. Plus, there will be free pizza, door prizes ($100 each for two st...udents and a $50 gas card for two parents/guardians), a career scavenger hunt, an attendance contest between middle schools, and FREE parking.

Some 1,000 families took part in the first Countdown to Kindergarten Fair on August 8 at the Museum of Life and Science. There was fun and information for all!
It was an extra busy day at the Museum of Life and Science on Saturday, August 8 as some 1,000 Durham Public Schools families took part in the first Countdown ...to Kindergarten Fair. Thanks to B,B, & T for providing financial assistance, those attending got free admission to the Museum and they learned more about bus safety, before and after school care, wellness and school lunches. DPS partners, including the Durham County Library and Durham’s Partnership for Children also were on hand.

Middle school takes learning to a whole new level! It is one of the most important transitions students make during their academic careers. Successfully navigating the transition is essential for excellence at the middle school level.
That is why Durham Public Schools is sponsoring two sessions designed to help parents... of current fifth-graders feel more comfortable about this important move. If you have questions about what this transition will be like for your child, plan to attend one of two Making the Move to Middle Schools parent workshops.
They will be held on Thursday, May 7, and Thursday, May 14 at 7:00 pm at DPS Staff Development Center, 2107 Hillandale Road.
There will be middle school principals, teachers and counselors on hand to help you understand more about the middle school years.
