National Inclusion Project Lots of great stories coming out of WFI! Post yours here!

It was my first year for WFI and I had a great time! I met so many nice people, everyone was in a great mood. They were very impressed when we explained what our goal was and what the foundation represented. I'll have to say, wrapping the "foot lamp" was the most challenging! We had so much fun though and it came out awful! but the customer loved it! I can't wait to see what next year brings!

We were working at a Border's in NJ. It was not terribly busy, but we did meet some people in the school system and get to talk to many people who had children with disabilities.

A man came up and asked us to wrap a few books and I started on explaining what inclusion means , but he said he knew what it meant and smiled and walked away. He came back with another book to be wrapped and we told him about the financials of the Project, he was glad to hear that because he had problems with other organizations since his son was disabled. He came back a third time to get a few more books wrapped and asked what the project did. When we talked about the syllabus, he talked about how much trouble he had getting his son mainstreamed, the son was off the normal spectrum. He then wanted to know where the camps were because he was very interested in the possibility of his son attending.

Finally, he was leaving and we were getting busy and I just commented about grants and said perhaps his son could apply when he got older. The man turned around shaking his head and said every time he was getting ready to leave we would say something that would bring him back and he told us about his 8 year old son. Seems the child decided all children should have toys during the holiday and asked his friends to give up some used toys for other kids (gently used toys). The project grew into a school project and in the end they collected so many toys that they had to rent a truck. This father was very proud of his special child.... See More

I am sorry we did not get his name, he did take the information and said he was going to contact the Project.

- This is my first year of actually being able to GET to a WFI location, thanx to some friends - and I'm LUVIN it!! I learned how to make "puffy" bows "free-hand" and I just love the smiles on folks faces when they get their wrapped pkgs back! Now that I know the routine, I hope to become an annual "regular" volunteer. :-) USE YOUR VOICE - spread the word on National Inclusion Project! Merry Christmas everyone!! Take care & God Bless.

We wrap in one of the busiest malls in the Chicago suburbs and we have been going great guns since 12/13. Every year we get some very crazy and unique gifts to wrap. This year I think I got my favorite. Two brothers came in with about thirty gifts between them, one was an old table saw. He asked if we would wrap it. His story was that 13 years... See More ago he borrowed this saw from his Dad and every Christmas
when they were all together his dad would ask about his saw. This year he is getting back the saw wrapped in Santa paper, a big bow and a tag that says " To: Dad From: Santa.

Also...:-)...I hope to have several eligible entities in my area apply (successfully) for grants in 2010. It would make it SO much easier to convince people to get involved, to have a model in our area.

The young people of SHINE need to be commended for getting involved to advance inclusion for the benefit of all people, making this world a better place. National Inclusion Project also needs to be congratulated for their work in getting the message of inclusion out there.

I want to know too, if you can vote more than once for the same charity? It does not seem so.

When this fundraiser is over, has the National Inclusion Project considered signing up for games that give? I know a lot of people that waste time playing games, many more than have money to donate. They give 70% of their advertising to the selected charity. www.gamesthatgive.net

NIP did not win the $10,00 but did earn over $26,000 in donations (that's 2 summer camps for kids!). And NIP came in first in the Christie Cookie challenge for another $10,000 prize. Thanks to all who support inclusion activities for children of disabilities.

Games that Give sounds like another charity resource to check out. And remember, if ... See Moreyou use www.goodsearch.com for your searches, you can earn a penny a search for your favorite charity - and more if you link to www.goodshop.com for your internet purchases at such stores as amazon.com, ebay, Target - many more.
