U.S. EMBASSY, DUSHANBE, TAJIKISTAN November, 25 2009. Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The U.S. Department of State, through Project HOPE (Health Opportunities for People Everywhere) has delivered $6,628,628.44 worth of donated medical supplies to hospitals and health facilities in Tajikistan. The supplies, which arrived this week on an AN-12 cargo plane, are offered to the people of Tajikistan at no cost.

Thanksgiving Day in the United States, the fourth Thursday in November, is possibly the premier U.S. family celebration — typically marked with a substantial feast. Many Americans also take time to prepare and serve meals to the needy at churches, soup kitchens and homeless shelters.

U.S. EMBASSY, DUSHANBE, TAJIKISTAN On November 17 Public Affairs Section organized an alumni reception for the USG alumni. The main aim of the reception was to foster better links among the alumni, introduce the newly arrived U. S. Ambassador Ken Gross, Public Affairs Officer Rachel Cooke and Cultural Affairs Officer McKenzie Milanowski. The Ambassado...r made opening remarks, welcomed the alumni and talked about the Embassy’s efforts to support exchange programs and alumni outreach initiatives in Tajikistan. PAO Rachel Cooke spoke about the benefit of cultural, professional exchange programs for both, countries – U.S. and Tajikistan. The reception was a chance to encourage alumni to come up with community service ideas and apply for annual alumni small grants program.

About 50 alumni of various USG funded educational and professional programs attended the event. The event gave them an opportunity to share news, ideas and experiences, as well as make contacts with the Embassy staff.
