- About Me:
- On January 9, 2007, Dustin McDaniel was sworn in as Arkansas's Attorney General. In that role, he is the state's top law enforcement officer, top consumer advocate, and top lawyer.
In his first year in office, he worked with the Governor and state legislature to end the Lakeview school-funding case. Out of his 16 bills in the 2007 meeting of the General Assembly, 15 became state law.
His office has continued to work on the issues that matter most to Arkansans—including shutting down pay day lenders and curbing methamphetamine production. And already, in the 2009 session of the General Assembly, Dustin successfully negotiated and steered Arkansas's first felony animal cruelty bill into law.
McDaniel serves as the Chair of the southern region for the National Association of Attorneys General; Co-Chair of the Democratic Association of Attorneys General; and has been awarded an Aspen-Rodel Fellowship in Public Leadership.
McDaniel has always been dedicated to public service, and prior to becoming Attorney General, he served as a uniformed patrol officer in his hometown of Jonesboro. He was also a Democratic Member of the Arkansas House of Representatives, serving as the Chairman of the Joint Select Committee on Health Insurance and Prescription Drugs and as a Member of the House Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee.
Dustin is the proud father of a seven year old daughter.
