ENOUGH - Family Violence. Victoria has had enough. Here is a video of someone who overcame family violence. She shares her thoughts as we head into the Christmas period, which has historically been a time in which incidents of family violence have increased.

Sarah, I am the person who spoke out in this video, and I don't believe that there is too much emphasis on womens' need to speak up- I think that there isn't enough emphasis. Women and children who get trapped in the cycle of violence often completely loose their self-esteem and feel ashamed about speaking about the abuse that they are enduring. By... See More speaking out, women are given the chance to start reclaiming their lives and be in control of their own destiny. I spoke out not to be a professional victim- but instead to show others who are experiencing violence in their lives, that they are not alone, and that they too can survive. I encourage every woman to tell their story. It is a liberating experience!

To those who have spoken it, that's the best thing you could have done. I know, because I did, but have someone close to me who hasn't - as yet :(

Hello,

I am writing to ask for your help in a Swinburne University and Hanover Welfare Services research project on family homelessness. We are looking for one and two parent families who are, or have recently been, homeless to take part in a longitudinal study about what the experience of being homeless is like for them, and how it affects their ability to engage as members of society. We are aware that many families become homeless as a result of domestic and family violence. The research has been funded by the Australian Research Council and adult participants will receive $40 voucher for the first interview, $60 for the second (6 months later) and $80 for the third (6 months after that).

Please could you give me a call on 03 92145637 (direct line) or email me on aspinney@swin.edu.au if you are interested in taking part.... See More

Many thanks,

Dr Angela Spinney

I was a victim of Domestic Violence and the laws should have changed a long time ago. To give women and children rights to leave their perpetrators.
