About us: The College of Music at Michigan State University provides a welcoming, challenging environment designed to foster innovation and creativity while helping every student achieve professional excellence. An outstanding faculty of more than 75 resident artists and scholars is noted for a devotion to teaching, for mentoring students to find their personal style, for excellence in performance, and for the production of creative musical works and research. The College of Music, which presents more than 300 annual events, including, concerts, recitals, workshops, and master classes, attracts talented students seeking a solid program of musical excellence where they are encouraged to explore the frontiers of their art.

The College of Music enjoys students from all corners of the United States and has significant international representation with students from more than 17 nations.

composition, jazz studies, music, music education, music performance (brass, percussion, piano, strings, voice, woodwind), music theory, and music therapy.

composition, conducting (band, choral, orchestral), music education, music performance (brass, percussion, piano, strings, voice, woodwind), music theory, music therapy, musicology, and piano pedagogy.

Doctoral degrees:

Susannah, one of the most often-produced American operas, is Carlisle Floyd's retelling of the biblical story of Susannah and the Elders set in rural Tennessee. Written in the 1950s in response to the McCarthyism rampa...nt at that time, the musical drama tells the tale of a young woman shunned by her community and victimized by the very preacher who seeks to save her soul.

The MSU Childrens Choir, which performs with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, was founded by Mary Alice Stollak when MSUs Community Music School was created in 1993.

Michigan State University College of Music Michigan State University College of Music Next week, on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m., The Beaumont Brass, MSU College of Music's faculty brass quintet, will be performing at the Alumni Memorial Chapel. Named after MSU's historic Beaumont Tower, the quintet has performed throughout Michigan and the Midwest. Concert is free and open to the public.

Susan Wizinsky I can't wait to come up for the Symphony Orchestra Concert this Saturday. I played in the cello in Holst's "The Planets" with Mr. Gregorian and the MSU Symphony circa 1986 and it was an amazing experience.
