The Leakey Collection Some of you have asked me for the link to USA Today's article about working from a remote location. Here it is! It was on the front page of the Money section last Monday.

Katy Leakey rises early, has breakfast with her husband, Philip, and heads to the 12-foot-by-12-foot office where she spends much of her workday.

The snarling leopard propelled Kimberly into one of the fastest runs of her 23 years. Walking back to camp from the workshop one August afternoon, her mind languishing on the fun she’d had with the Maasai women earlier in the day and listening to music on her Ipod, she disturbed ...

The Leakey Collection Much to my disappointment, I found in my forties that I had inherited my mother’s scaly dry skin. Alligators wear their patchy skin nicely, but my mother and I didn’t, and no product seemed to have a hope of returning the soft silky skin of youth – until now! Read on for the full story. This will be available on our site and in select stores very soon!

The Leakey Collection
Philip and Katy Leakey’s vision for The Leakey Collection was to utilize their artistic talent and passion for African culture to create beautiful, stylish and sustainable products; while providing a much needed income for members of the Maasai tribe in Kenya. One of the product lines to grow out of this vision is Zul...uwood Jewelry; designed by the Leakeys and handcrafted by the Maasai women of Kenya. Made from native woods of Eastern Africa, ZuluWood necklaces and earrings are the natural compliment to Zulugrass jewelry.

The Leakey Collection uses only fallen dead wood from environmentally sustainable areas in its wood products. Zuluwood Jewelry is available in necklaces, bracelets and matched sets at http://www.leakeylife.com. All wood used to make any wooden products are collected from fallen wood of sustainable species such as varieties of acacia, and utilizes environmental sustainable methods of planning and collection. In addition, wood is hand tooled and burnished; there is no wax, lacquer or varnish used on any of the wood beads or wooden products. Such careful and innovative management of natural resources resulted in The Leakey Collection being awarded the Environment Conscious award from the Association of Makers and Exporters of Gifts and Allied Articles of Kenya.

It is no wonder that the fabulous Zuluwood necklaces are featured in the July 2008 In Style Magazine!
