Blabbermouth Communications Going to spend the New Year's weekend finishing up a research project for a client in Easton and writing a marketing plan for a start-up web-based business in Bethlehem. What's everyone else doing? Anyone else also working?

I'm working also. Writing up an offer for 1st time homebuyer clients this morning and finalizing a commercial lease this afternoon...this is why I take Wednesday's off!! Good to see that you are busy though...that's always better than the alternative! :-)

Jim is working and it's getting on my last nerve. They are far behind in a project and he has been working 14 hour days since Tuesday. He is also on call at night, so we've been getting phone calls at 1 a.m.,2 a.m., etc. I'm worried about his health, but there's nothing we can do. I've never seen him so sleep deprived. Meanwhile, I'm on edge because he's working so hard. But, he does what he must do to keep his job, and so does the rest of his team. Thanks for listening to my rant.

Blabbermouth Communications Today I'm wondering what the future of Facebook is for both marketing and marketers (like me). Do you think it's a fad that will die out soon, or is it the new way we communicate? And if there is an IPO in 2010, as some speculate, would you buy shares?

Blabbermouth Communications I've secured my first speaking engagement on social media. It's on 1/29 at NCC's southside Bethlehem campus and is part of a Greater Lehigh Valley Ad Club educational seminar aimed at small business owners. Get more details on today's blog post.

Thanks again everyone. I'm very excited about it and am thrilled that my friends at the Ad Club think highly enough of me to invite me to participate in the seminar. This will be good publicity for Blabbermouth and the services it offers to small business owners.

You're not supposed to tell me what your wish is; you're supposed to keep it a secret so I have to click the link to find out.

Blabbermouth Communications Today's Blabbermouth Missives blog post has me debating how far I want to go to find a new client; distance-wise, that is. How far from home is too far for a little consulting business like mine?

Blabbermouth Communications I'm wondering if it's ever okay to insert a business card into a holiday card sent to a client or work colleague. Is it bad form, or acceptable today? See my blog post for a more detailed explanation of what I am really asking and why.

When you run your own business you are NEVER off. Even when you're vacationing on a cruise ship, you'll be thinking about your business!

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I agree with Dawn that when the tank is empty, your creativity will suffer and you would be wise to recognize that and take a day to yourself, if possible. But I also see what Ev is saying that since it's your business and you are ultimately responsible for it, you are never truly "off."

So while I may give myself off on 12/24 & 25, I will no doubt at the very least check e-mails and tweet a bit. Gotta have a toe in it all times, right?

Blabbermouth Communications My business web site has been up and running for about 3 months now. It's kind of basic due to budget and my limited design talents, but I still want it to be all it can be. That's what today's blog post is about. Looking for some feedback.

Blabbermouth Communications When it comes to business, how do you feel about name dropping? Is it ever appropriate or just a show-off tactic? See my blog post for today and tell me what you think.

I think of name-dropping as a type of networking, and networking gets results. You are just showing potential clients that you have prior experience with some important names.

In this "dog eat dog" work climate, I would use any means I could to promote a new business. It can be done tastefully without being obnoxious. You say in your blog that you avoid "name-droppers" as a rule, but basically, you are probably only ignoring the obnoxious ones. Good luck, Tracey!

At LEAST 3 per week, as in no less than three? Ok. Interesting. Good to know. I am currently doing 5 a week, work days only. I figure that no one wants to read a business blog on the weekend.

Blabbermouth Communications I'm excited to have secured a new project from another new client as of this past Friday. I'm going to help a small web-based start-up in southside Bethlehem develop a marketing plan for the launch of their new consumer software product in late-January. Very exciting!

Ah, Wegmans is a good idea, Bob, and I often forget about it as an option for client meetings. I believe they have free wi-fi and I don't think they kick you out if you stay for a long time and don't buy anything. And I know from experience that depending on when you visit it can be pretty quiet in the dining area. The location on Rt. 512 in Bethlehem is my personal favorite.

Targeting it to folkis in the Lehigh Valley since that is where I feel my client base is located. Let me know if you see my ad any time between today and 12/20 on the right side of the page. Thanks!
