Echo Voodoo started the 50/90 challenge today. You can check my progress at http://fiftyninety.fawmers.org/users/echo-voodoo if you're interested. Two songs down - will I have 50 done by October 1st?

I think I'll be focusing on electronic instrumental music of varying lengths; I have had it in my head for a while that I need to spend some time experimenting more with my software. With any luck, I'll learn a thing or two.

    • Stephen Falk Got it bookmarked! I really liked "Too late in the night". Beautiful little melody over a pleasing chord progression. Also, I love the sound (for the melody) you get on "Melancholy wondering", too. Sounds so good ... like a smooth, rich-sounding clarinet or something. I think you used it on TLITN, too??

The sounds are somewhat similar, but the TLITN lead sound is smoother, less 'buzzy'. They were definitely different patches (I try not to re-use the same sounds too often, especially not in consecutive songs, if I can help it).

Glad you like...d them! I'm probably going to be making a lot of these electronic instrumentals over the next few months.See More

Echo Voodoo Hey! One of my songs got covered by a talented musician (sometimes) called S.Hush. Check out his version of "Reflected Regret", it's pretty awesome.

Echo Voodoo just uploaded an entry for the KVR music contest. The theme this month is percussion, so entries can only use percussion instruments and voice. This short pop number is called "Where things go".

Speaking of the work we have to do, I *finally* moved and set up my old PC down in my basement (just finished an hour ago). Got everything hooked up and ready to record. Steever Studios is open for business!

On the same topic, I'm thinking I... might try singing "Stagger Lee". I did a test run and my voice on it didn't make me puke TOO much (always a positive sign). But I have another song or two in mind (in addition to "Prodigal Son" and "Worried Blues") for our EP. I'll keep you posted ...See More

    • Stephen Falk OK, scratch that "Stagger Lee" comment. I definitely still wanna hear you sing it. However, I might do a version of it on a crappy-sounding lo-fi album of country blues tunes I'm thinking of making. For this album, I'd like to use only a single microphone for my guitar and vocal and thus do everything in one single take (hey, like all those classic blues artists used to do back in the good ol' days!). Not convinced I can pull it off, but whatever, we'll see ...
