Elders morns the loss of Doug white. A Lakota spiritual leader who was serving a prison sentence for crimes he didn't commit.

buffalopost.net
A few weeks ago, we wrote, here, about Doug White, a Lakota spiritual leader serving a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted 16 years ago of molesting his grandsons. The pair, now grown, recently recanted their testimony however, and many people were working to obtain White’s release.

Elders regret that a little Apache boy might not get an education because of the length of his hair. He is wise beyond his years for the answer he gave as to why his hair is long. I urge those in the US to make your voice heard over this. This violates his rights as a human and no doubt an American.

Back in June, we wrote here about Adriel Arocha, a 5-year-old Lipan Apache boy from Needville, Texas, whose school tried to make him cut his braids to comply with a dress code. We’ll update as information becomes available.

Elders the beauty of the cowichan sweater will be availble for the world to see.

buffalopost.net
A few weeks ago, we bemoaned the news that the Canada had chosen a Cowichan Tribes-style design for its Olympics sweaters – but that even though Cowichan knitters had bid for the highly lucrative contract, the work instead was going to a non-tribal company.
