It's ERC 20th Anniversary. We are celebrating Eleanor Roosevelt's syle of hands-on service projects and ERC traditions of service, leadershp and scholarship.
Friday Night:
Alumni Reception - Join up with other Alumni in a reception hosted by UC San Diego Alumni Association!
Charlayne Hunter-Gault - As one of television’s ...premier journalists, Charlayne Hunter-Gault has made a success of challenging convention with her fresh insights on issues both close to home and of global impact.
Saturday:
Founders and Alumni join Families and Students in brunch conversation. Join members of our honorary alumni committee to reminisce about the shared past and look forward to the changes they are making in their communities. Meet up with Uri Feldman, Amar Malik, Jeni Terrell, Lee Martin, Cassandra Pataky, Jordan Cross, Alejandra Sotelo-Solis, Megan Freitas, Sarah Woodside, Rebeca Valenzuela, Melissa LaBouff, David Kim, Adrienne Taylor, and TJ Tallie. Also joining the reunion will be Harriet Marsh (founding Dean of Student Affairs), Susan Cook (founding Dean of Academic Advising), and Barbara Blomgren (founding Business Manager).
Students, Family & Alumni join forces to make a difference in San Diego! Choose one Service Project for Saturday.
“Feeding San Diego” – An afternoon volunteering at the San Diego Food Bank. Since 1977, the San Diego Food Bank had provided food to people in need. Each year, 480,000 people face hunger in San Diego County – 181,000 are children under 12. Volunteers spend over 50,000 hours a year sorting, bagging, boxing and distributing ten million pounds of food for San Diegans. Just one day can make a difference to a family or individual in need.
“Restoring the Cliffs” – An afternoon volunteering at the Scripps Coastal Reserve. Established in 1965, the Scripps Coastal Reserve commands a view for 30 miles, topped by a grassy knoll and bounded by steep coastal canyons. The reserve’s rugged coastal cliffs plunge close to 300 feet to the ocean, providing a popular vantage point for 20 years of sunsets for ERC alumni and current students. Volunteers may participate in habitat restoration, transplanting native plants such as prickly-pear cactus, removing non-native plants, or restoring trails.
