The story tracks what will ultimately be the final hours in the life of COLE HINDIN (35), an overworked and overmedicated hardwood floor and carpet cleaner who finds himself faced with the daunting task of single-handedly servicing a sprawling mansion over the course of a single night. Plagued by horrific hallucination...s brought on by having been an unwilling witness to a gruesome murder-suicide a year earlier, badly bruised by memories of a failed marriage, and strung out on a cocktail of recreational drugs, prescription medication, expensive wine and not nearly enough sleep, Cole struggles to maintain his sanity. The struggle is made all the more difficult by the presence of HENRY SHARPE (37), the sardonic multi-millionaire homeowner, whose disjointed activities give Cole reason to suspect that the house was recently the scene of a similarly violent atrocity. Over the course of attempting to complete the daunting job, as day turns to night and darkness swallows light, Cole’s actual role in the KERSHE FAMILY murder-suicide to which he was apparently only a witness becomes less clear as his very identity proves to be as shifting and transparent as the shadows that play on the walls all around him. As Cole’s clenched grip on his own reality slips away, his lurid fantasies of Henry’s blood-spattered past become more and more convincing, ultimately painting Cole into a corner from which violent retribution appears to be the only escape. Inspired by the horror thrillers of Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick and David Fincher, “Shadow Play” peers down the dark corridors of a deranged mind and explores the terrifying extremes to which one man will go in his frantic attempt to forget the things he has seen, and done. The film promises to take us on tour of a not-so-funhouse, the long, empty hallways of which are crawling with distorted perceptions and reversed expectations. Darkness lurks around every corner and the play of shadows dancing across the floor is enough to push an addled mind over the brink and into a pit of despair, fractured identity and murder. Read More
