A Turner Sims exclusive as two outstanding UK acts come together for this special double bill. Multi-talented UK saxophonist Yarde and exceptional jazz pianist McCormack open proceedings with a set of compelling new music full of harmonic twists, raw energy and spontaneity, before award-winning outfit Empirical present their latest project. Celebrating American jazz alto saxophonist, flautist, and bass clarinettist, Eric Allan Dolphy (1928-64), they pay tribute to his musical legacy with original compositions and new arrangements of his works, including music from Out to Lunch and Far Cry.

Love the new album. Inspired me to dig out my copy of Zappa's "Weasels Ripped My Flesh" which features the track 'The Eric Dolphy Memorial Barbecue'. Looking forward to seeing you play live in London during November.

Simon

Simon Saw the band last night in Hebden Bridge and have had your first album since not long after it came out. Great concert! Just a couple of questions: what's with all the personnel changes and are Empirical still a quintet or a piano-less quartet as in Friday's performance?
