I noticed that many of the cities were tourist towns....I live in a little city Halifax NS Canada - and we face the same kinds of issues - especially in the summer - when the tourist come to the city the police and "mall cops" private policing services try to hide the poor - they tend to do this by beng oppressive and cruel - after all who will drop 300$ on a souvenir after someone has just asked you for money so they can eat....not that they care...but they don't want the guilt

When it comes to homelessness research, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's 2009 Annual Homeless Assessment Report (AHAR) to Congress is the big dog. It's arguably the most comprehensive and anticipated reports on homeless released each year.

What is so sad about the richest country on the planet is that more people live on the streets than in homes and the majority are veterans, and that is pathetic being a Veteran myself and serving your country this is the thanks we get along with so many children who are living on the streets as well.I wonder did we make a mistake with Obama, talk is ... I lived to see a black man as President of the United States now do something after all that came before him died and fought for in the civil rights movement of the 50's and 60's and I am a witness to history in that sense along with everyone else who grew up in that era.

Living in the 7th richest county in the US ( Indian River County) I am astounded at the amount of homeless families, not just single people in general that reside here. I was privileged to work with these families and the majority of them are homeless due to economic strains that have come into play either due to loss ...of job, sickness or mental anquish. They work very hard to do everything they can to get back back on their feet to establish a better homelife for their families. Let us all do what we can at least in our hometowns first and then around the world.Read More
