Clare Animal Welfare Still up to our eyes with the extra work this wet weather brings on us but have got some of the website updated and even finally found the time to do up a new page specially for Jerry our 10yr old greyhound and his friends who need more than the normal care and attention before they can be rehomed. Let us know if you h...ave any ideas on what we could do to raise some much needed funds for their medical bills, etc

Well aside of being a handsome regal loving 10yr old greyhound with a charming personality and amusing elderly idiosyncrasies I was diagnosed as having Epulis (mouth tumours) which require ongoing regular ...

Clare Animal Welfare Apologies for the lack of photos and news on the kittens, pups & dogs .... between the shorter hours of daylight, the rain, etc it is difficult to find time to get everything done ... bare with us for another few days and then we should have things up to date. Thanks

Clare Animal Welfare Luna's results came back Friday with only cell changes in 2 lymphs near where the Thymus gland was so the decision is that she will have a round of chemotherapy with the hope that they can be stopped in their track. Luna is a firm favourite with all who meet her, she isn't showing any signs of pain or unhappiness. We w...ill be keeping our fingers firmly crossed for her that the chemo works as I'm sure will all of you

Clare Animal Welfare Yesterday we received biopsy results from a lump which was removed last week from Luna's neck .. she is a mere 5mths old and the news can only be described as heartbreaking ... she has cancer of the thymus ;o(( This is a rare cancer that has a very bad prognosis if it has spread to other lymph glands. Blood and lymph ...tests were done today and so we have to wait another 10 days for those results before we will know if it has gone elsewhere. Please keep everything crossed for her

Clare Animal Welfare Forgot to say went to Ballinasloe Fair yesterday and brought back a wee terrier pup who is only about 4-5wks old. Poor mite has the start of mange and a tummy full of worms but at least he is safe & warm now and will get the treatment he needs. On account of his age he obviously won't be ready for rehoming for 5 or 6w...ks. Will take a photo of him later if I get a chance.

Clare Animal Welfare Been busy of late between new dogs, pups and kittens arriving ... need to take photos so as I can list them on here and on our website. The pups won't be ready for rehoming for 3 to 4wks and the kittens will hopefully be good to go in about a fortnight.

Clare Animal Welfare Laryngitis interfering with my answering the phone again so if you are one of the people who hasn't had luck getting an answer to the 0871315904 number for a few days please have patience as my flu has got another grip on me just as I thought I had started improving ... that's what I get for going to watch my son playi...ng a soccer match and forgetting to bring a warm hat and high neck jumper :o(

Clare Animal Welfare Was just looking at our page statistics and saw that 77% of our fans are FEMALE ...... interesting as rescues are by and large run by females ..... I wonder what it is that creates such a difference in the sexes ... could it be as simple as our motherly instints ???

Clare Animal Welfare Tilly (collie) and Billy, Megan & Ellis (greyhounds) all headed off to new homes this week :o))

Clare Animal Welfare Bev who is the vet nurse at Charlie Kenny's veterinary practice on Carmody Street in Ennis is organising a book sale which will take place on Saturday the 19th of September to raise funds for individuals who rescue and rehome dogs & cats around the county. If you have any books which you would like to donate to this v...ery worthy cause they can be dropped into Charlie Kennys or you can ring Bev on 0868624511

Clare Animal Welfare Tika got her external fixature removed yesterday and the vets are really happy with how the bone mended in her leg. She has to have a splint on now for a fortnight and after that her leg may be allowed to be fully 'naked' :o))) This girl is going to make a super loving pet for an even more loving family.

Clare Animal Welfare Say hello to Tilly the pretty tri-colour collie who is only just about 1yr old ... this poor girl was thrown from a moving car right outside our vets ;o() Thankfully she didn't receive any injuries
