Environment California New plan for protecting marine life released by state. Areas off Laguna Beach and Point Dume are protected, but Palos Verdes Peninsula and most of the Catalina Islands are not. More on our reaction here: http://bit.ly/4EQwbF

A special thank you to the more than 5,000 of you who took action and emailed the state commissioners in favor of strong protections.

Our gov may be trying to salvage the ABSOLUTE DISASTER he has made of the California Delta...but it will never be enough for the crime he has committed against the residents and the enviornment of the stat'es most precious system... SHAME ON HIM AND THE OTHER LEGISTLATORS FOR THE DAMAGE HE HAS WROUGHT!

Mark Any new HDTV will use the same electricity as a 300 watt light bulb. Our old 32" set uses less than 100 watts. This is madness. It's not because they can't make them energy efficient, it's because we don't demand it. I want a new 50" but I sure don't want to pay for using it!

Environment California TVs consume about 10% of the electricity in our homes, and are getting worse. bit.ly/1m1TDS - Send a letter to the CEC and tell them to green up our TVs!

I don't think CRT loses the debate. My 32" CRT uses about the same as a 100 watt light bulb and it's the largest size I would put in my living room. 42 - 50" LCD/Plasma is the smallest size I'd put in my living room and you are talking about 300 watts. I think I'll wait until LED's come down in price before I make the switch.

Spirit Venice

Spirit Venice Thank you for the good news! Now we have to ban ALL styrofoam, and plastic bags!!!! Or, insist that all plastic bags are made from bio-degradable plastic - it exists and we should be using it. I live in Venice and constantly pick up plastic bags and styrofoam cups blowing in the wind, dangerously close to the ocean.... Anybody interested in starting/joining a Prevent Plastic Pollution (PPP) group to pick up plastic trash in Venice and other beach towns, please contact us at the Spirit of Venice
