Environmental Defense Fund We need a better energy grid - and to ensure that it happens, we need a climate bill that can unleash our clean energy future! Take action below to deliver this message to President Obama and Secretary Chu.

Source: secure2.edf.org
President Barack Obama and Energy Secretary Steven Chu have announced plans to help build a smarter, more efficient energy grid that will save Americans money and reduce our global warming footprint.

Also tell them we need to change the law so that federal contracts include "buy American made first". Most countries
protect their workers, and their economy with just such laws.

Dawn thank you for your efforts to foster cooperative relations with Cuba!!! And for all you listeners, call your congressmember and senators and let them know that you support environmental cooperation with Cuba! (or even better, full normal relations!)

This is why Copenhagen and the US must come together to find sustainable solutions. Do we want $12 gas before we get electric vehicles? C'mon Elon Musk hurry up.

Timoth G Volm

Timoth G Volm Some of the largest companies are moving away from the US Chamber of Commerce, because of the anti-scientific stance on global warming the USCC has taken. Perhaps recognition of these companies would be good?

I think that would be a great idea to recognize the companies that have left the USCC over their stance on global warming.

Thanks guys! We have been posting updates about each company as they leave - but I'll see what I can do about putting together something more substantial.

Environmental Defense Fund Here's a new column by renowned writer and author Dominique Browning, as she discusses the lack of revolution in electricity. For example, while your cell phone probably has more computing power than NASA had the day John Glenn orbited the Earth, the system that delivers electricity to your house is still based on technology that predates the Wright brothers.

Good article. Our electric grid in the USA is like a thrid world country. Almost every industry has benefited from the new techologies but our electric grids, as Dominique has mentioned, is still using the old ways. Coal is used a lot to produce electricity. Here in PA, PPL also used nuclear power to make electricity.

Joan Hyde

Joan Hyde I have used your thoughtful approach to persuade friends and others to look at the issues more closely. The fact that businesses can improve their bottom line by making changes that are good for the environment was an eye-opener for many.
