Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon

What a blast! Best event I ever raced. Maybe next time I'll sleep the night before.

Did this race about 6 years ago. Does anybody know how many mere mortals (amateurs) they allow in?

So no more Tri-California?

I got in for 2009, but ended up having my aortic valve replaced! So no go. Hoping to get in for 2010. I'll be the one with the big scar on my chest!

The most fun I've had at an athletic event since College Football days. As I was climbing the first hill on my bike going out, the lead cop car, pace car and camera car came racing over the hill with Andy Potts Blazing downhill at least 45MPH >>> no one behind him for at least 1 minute... Awesome site! Saw him again on the Bike just as he reached the top of the sand ladder, meaning he finished the run course as I was still on the Bike course. Amazing!

Awsome! My goal for next year. This year I'm doing the Toughman 1/2 Ironman.

Was a great race, had lots of fun, hope to get selected again next year!

My first time doing it & loved it! Quite a change from the water temp (88) and air temp (95) in Tampa! Not to mention the hills! The volunteers were awesome; the race was very well organized; everything was incredible! Thank you!

NBC is covering it - but no idea what they will broadcast or when. If anyone finds out more - please let us know

I'm told by the Tic-Cal coverage that there is no individual athlete tracking this year. I'm hoping that Tri Cal picks up their live streaming coverage once they are back on land - the streaming from the boat was AWESOME.

My nerves turned RIGHT to excitement when down at the Marina Greens today -- so fun to see everything getting set up!

The calm before the storm...

Anybody know what the water temp is? I thought I saw something indicating that is was 58....a little higher than I was expecting.

58 degrees that's bath water not SF Bay.

Thanks for the advice on the ear plugs, I've been training with a waterproof MP3 player and almost forgot that I can't use it for the race.. doh!
