For the last ten years, I have served as the Executive Director of Portland West. Portland West is a not-for-profit social service agency that works with at-risk kids and low-income families. It is engaging, meaningful work that has never ceased to keep me heading back to the office for long hours.

I have just started my third term representing the City of Portland in the Maine State Senate. I am currently the Chair of the Labor Committee, and also serve on the Taxation Committee. I was previously Chair of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee. I was particularly proud last year to Chair Maine's Homeland Security Task Force. We worked to assess and ensure Maine's emergncy preparedness in the case of a human made or natural disaster.

This year, I am blessed to be celebrating my third anniversary with my wife, Mary Beeaker. Mary grew up in Livermore Falls and is an R.N. at Maine Medical Center. We live together on Spring Street in Portland's West End.
