The NMSU Library will screen "Rock Hounds: The Movie" at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, in Room 123 of Zuhl Library. The free showing is open to the public.
The film is a documentary about collecting rocks, gems, minerals and fossils, and the fun, adventure, creativity and science that goes with it.
Segments include th...e world championship quartz crystal dig in Arkansas, fossil hunting with "Dinosaur George" Blasing, the Rock Food Table at the Houston Gem & Mineral Show, the barite rose rocks of Oklahoma and more.
The screening is the third presentation in October celebrating the 2009 Year of Science. The programs are being organized by NMSU science librarians Paula Johnson, Cindy Watkins and Dr. Nirmala Gunapala.
