Company Overview:
The Football Association’s purpose is to lead and serve the whole football family in England by achieving success and integrity for the game under confident leadership. At the heart of football, we will nurture and protect its future, and ensure both a winning mentality and access to all who wish to get involved in the game.
Mission:
The FA launched its Respect programme at the start of the 2008-09 season to address poor behaviour on- and off-the pitch. The programme aims to give support tools to leagues, clubs, coaches, players and parents from grassroots to elite football to ensure a safe, positive environment in which to enjoy the game.

Improving behaviour at matches was the number one priority emerging from the biggest opinion survey to date of grassroots football in England. It was carried out in late 2007 and directly informed The FA's National Game Strategy, published in March 2008.

More than 550 grassroots leagues voluntarily opted into the Respect programme during the 2008-09 season, adopting codes of conduct, putting up sideline barriers and captains working with referees to manage player behaviour.

The FA has recently launched a free online parent guide to advise mums, dads and carers how to be their child’s best supporter.
