FOUR PAWS
FOUR PAWS have three bear sanctuaries open to the public. These sanctuaries provide a natural habitat for the bears so that they can follow their instincts and natural behaviour patterns. Each of the sanctuaries have enclosures where the bears are free to swim in pools, dig a den, climb trees or rocks and explore the f...orested areas.
As wild bears spend much of the day foraging for food the bear keepers hide food throughout the enclosure enabling the bears to follow their natural behaviour and forage for food. During the winter months the bears are free to hibernate in their constructed dens or the dens they have dug. Each year the keepers enjoy watching the bears hibernating, some for the first time of their life.

The habitat constructed for the predators which include lion, leo...pard, tiger and caracal, has been built to the highest standards and offers a lifelong home to big cats that were subjected to a life in exploitative captivity. Special features of the habitat include amongst others:
· Large areas for family groups
· Facilitation of natural behavior through enrichment
· Highest standards of medical care
The definition of a sanctuary is entrenched in our policy: Hunting, breeding and trading of wild animals is strictly prohibited.

The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOS) operates rehabilitation centres and sanctuaries for orangutans and other endangered animals.
