Jamie Hi fellow philosophers. Anyone have any information on philosophy for children? (links, etc.)

"Facebook and Philosophy" Only discussions as wide-ranging as these could represent Facebook well, and only this strange mix of the serious and significant with the silly and bizarre could appropriately reflect the Facebook experience.

BTW: sorry about these weird posts from Dec. 20. I wanted to say more than FB would allow me to put in a status update. My 'solution' of breaking it up into four posts was probably not the most optimal compromise.

Read them from the bottom and they'll make sense.

"Facebook and Philosophy" These discussions address all the expected topics, but sometimes reflect the playful absurdity of Facebook in content as well as form, with discussions of friendship and its relationship to moving couches, Twitter, Web 2.0, burning Archbishops, HAL 9000, evolutionary biology, Top Chef, keg stands, Groundhog Day, what k...ind of sandwich you might be eating at the moment, Zombies, Twitter in Iran,

Facebook controversially forced profile pictures into public and pushed users to share candids with the whole world. So now we're blessed with pics of the social network's young CEO shirtless, romantic, clutching a teddy bear, and looking plastered.

Cherise Anthony D. Storm has a great on-line commentary on Kierkegaard. Does anyone know of another scholarly online source? Thanks so much.

I have had trouble finding original Kierkegaard online. I have a PDF sampling either/or and postscript if you are interested.

Dignitas:
Nice article! On the matter of dignity, I must confess that you are the expert. Further, I may not be a humanist--and this article supports that presupposition. The idea of intrinsic and instinctual dignity is a fascinating one--especially with the idea in mind of self preservation. Dignity is an ironic mystery to me because it seems ... See Moreto be one of God's dear gifts to mortals. Many a man has dignity where respect has not been earned. And, conversely, it is every man's inalieanable rite to have dignity--not because he has merit--but because he has an image of the divine within him--and for that reason alone (?). Such ironies lace humanity's thatched history; the term "dignitas" meaning deserving of respect. It is as though we are all prisoners being given our last meal. Why? The common thread of humanity is not that instinctually we deserve a good thing though I think giving it is paramount to relationships and camaraderie). Rather, it is God's gift to each human being.

"Facebook and Philosophy" Thanks for sharing that, Chris! We received so many wonderful abstracts; it was sad to be forced to pass over some that were as exciting, thoughtful and engaging as yours.

Great thoughts! This should be published abroad. Perhaps it would slow the ever increasing trend of Narcissism which Facebook feeds--I myself being an unfortunate part of that. Your article was beautifully written--nice length and sumptuous discourse for thought. It is an uncanny thing that we as a society want privacy and individualism so ... See Moredesperately and yet resort back to collectively recreating some communal sense for ourselves (like through the means of Facebook). And, then somewhere down the road we become very concerned over the public content, its usage, and publication--split between ideals and practice--sort of schizophrenic as you said. We consciously submit to a certain voyeurism and then get enraged when it is wrongly taken. Great article. Thanks for the interesting thoughts.
