Northern Virginia businessman Long Nguyen and his wife, Kimmy, have given a gift of $5 million to the university that will officially name Mason’s new state-of-the-art engineering building the Long and Kimmy Nguyen Engineering Building.

George Mason apparently has edged past Virginia Commonwealth as the state’s largest university. GMU’s unanticipated growth this fall—amid state and federal campaigns to increase the number of college graduates—should be a good thing.

Volgenau School donors were invited on September 16, 2009 to a Donor Recognition Reception hosted by Dean Lloyd Griffiths. Individuals and companies were recognized for contributions to scholarships, programs and to the new engineering building during the School’s 2010 Campaign, which began in 2005. Following the ce...remony, guests gathered in the atrium of the new engineering building for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication of the two new donor walls for all 2010 Building Donors and the Major Gifts Donor Wall. The event was followed by a reception in the atrium.
