Brian Cowings Family Tree DNA helped me establish Cowan links from Scotland/N Ireland. Unfortunately this is twelve generations back, my 'paper trail' is brick walled at six generations. Hopefully a Cowan will test soon who is closer and 'bridge' our family connections!

Jerry Familytreedna has helped many connections on my Jackson (maternal) side. Still hoping for a breakthrough on my Gross family connections. :D

Tony FamilyTreeDNA testing is helping the males on my paternal grandmother's line track and prove connections. A cousin on my Tow/Towe line took the test and his DNA was not matching other Tow/Towe's who took the test. Instead, he was showing as matching people with Wood/Woods surnames. This helped us in zeroing in on th...e parentage of my g.g.g. grandfather, William Tow (husband of Rebecca Lance Tow). From census records and proximity to Rebecca's parents we were fairly certain his parents were Jesse Tow & Nancy Haws Tow. Jesse was born to a Mary Tow in 1790s and a William Wood had signed a Bastardy Bond for Jesse and Jesse's mother in North Carolina.

Luciana Pio Raposo How exactly does that work?I've heard that men dna is more certain .... My other relatives would have to make the same test through the same company or I would never find them....is it that or is there a unique DNA bench for every one who does this kind of test?

Sandra My sister, Sonia is the main explorer. I just help her.

Allyn I've just mailed my samples! Two of my third cousins have tested and matched. On paper we share the same great great grandfather, so I'll be interested to see what else turns up.

I have some results from a family member, his y-dna, he was tested through Sorensons because it was free. They dont tell you his haplogroup, is there somewhere I can post them and have them explain to me what they mean...Thank-you...
