Platt, 53, was appointed to the committee in 2005 and ran for the seat in 2006. She was not elected but she was reappointed to the committee in 2007 when a seat became vacant.

I was appointed to the Committee in 2004 to fill a vacancy, and then appointed again in 2007. For the past 18 months, I've served as Vice Chair. During my tenure on the committee, I've been responsible for several things, including the adoption of the Rosewick Road extension (where we are responsible for trash pick u.........p three times a year); conception, production and sales of the Blue State Cookbook (with the support of Evalyn Barnes) and I chair the fundraising subcommittee. I'm responsible for the silent auction at our annual Truman-Kennedy dinner, which has netted us an average of $3500 at no cost.
I am currently in the Leadership Southern Maryland class of 2010 - graduating in May.
