Farallones Marine Sanctuary Association If you are in the area --- this trip on 18 October is a great bargain compared to going rates, AND is a fundraiser for our organization, as the Captain is donating all proceeds to FMSA. Check it out, refer a friend. I'll be there!

Farallones Marine Sanctuary Association People debate whether global warming is real or human caused - but ocean acidification is measureable, demonstrateable, and a direct result of the increased CO2 emissions of our industrialized world since the 1800's. Perhaps focusing the discussion on this less arguable topic, whose mitigation is the same, is worth thinking about as an outreach strategy. Thoughts?

Farallones Marine Sanctuary Association Here's a poll: We are an association affiliated with a National Marine Sanctuary -- and yet, many of the issues (Ocean Acidification, Marine Spatial Planning, Plastics in the Ocean) are local, regional, and world-wide. How does a small association begin to tackle, or effectively bring attention, to larger issues that *also* directly impact our Sanctuary? Ideas? Comments?

But == can you use inspiration for a specific place to bring focus to a larger issue?

Absolutely! Nobody wants to see tons of crap on their local beaches or lose access to special places because they are oiled or see or hear about whales entangled in derelict gear in their local waters it translates to a bigger problem that is global, but it all starts locally.
