
NDSU Department of Geosciences Our own Dr. Don Schwert will give the next Science Cafe at Stokers (in the Hotel Donaldson) Thursday, Sept 17 at 7:00. He'll talk about "A citizens guide to geologic survival in Fargo-Moorhead". Despite the lack of volcanoes and earthquakes, the F-M area one of the most challenging geologic environments in the US because of floods, shifting clays, landslides and radon.

NASA Planetary Scientist Christopher McKay will present a public lecture at 7 pm, Monday, June 22nd in Stevens Auditorium. The topic will be "Astrobiology and the Search for Life on Mars."
Dr. McKay is a research scientist at NASA Ames Research Center. His current research focuses on the evolution of the solar system ...and the origin of life. He is also actively involved in planning for future Mars missions including human exploration. Dr. McKay been involved in research in Mars-like environments on Earth, traveling to the Antarctic dry valleys, Siberia, the Canadian Arctic, and the Atacama desert to study life in these Mars-like environments.
